How to Get Save the World Fortnite: Guide to Unlocking the Game Mode

Fortnite, a game that gained immense popularity due to its Battle Royale mode, initially had a different focus. Save the World was supposed to be the primary game mode, but as player interest shifted, it was sidelined. Nevertheless, Save the World remains an enjoyable experience for those looking to explore the game’s origins and offers a unique challenge.

This article aims to guide Fortnite players in discovering the Save the World mode, helping them understand its benefits and features, as well as providing insights on recent updates such as the Vinderman 2.0 Pack. The main goal is to assist players in deciding whether this game mode aligns with their preferences and is worth their investment and time.

Although initially planned to become free-to-play, Save the World remains a paid game mode in Fortnite. To access it, players can purchase the Vinderman 2.0 Pack for $18.49, found in the Fortnite Item Shop under Special Items & Bundles. This pack might be replaced with a new one corresponding to the onset of a new Battle Royale season.

The Vinderman 2.0 Pack includes the following:

  • Access to Save the World mode
  • Dr. Vinderbot skin
  • LEGO-style variant for Dr. Vinderbot skin
  • BluGo back bling
  • Flask Bashers harvesting tool
  • Dr. Vinderbot Challenges (earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks through Daily Quests)

Players must complete the third Homebase Stormshield Defense mission to unlock the Dr. Vinderbot Challenges.

Note, Save the World is only playable on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms, and isn’t available on Switch or mobile devices.

Is Save the World Worth It?

Save the World offers a distinct experience compared to the popular Battle Royale mode, focusing on strategic base defense and teaming up with other players for PvE missions to unlock new worlds and gear. Each player has a home base to defend from the horde and storm, requiring careful building, trap placement, and locating powerful weapons, while recruiting survivors found throughout the story.

While it may initially provide a refreshing experience, some players might find Save the World becoming repetitive over time, due to a lack of updates in missions and events compared to its Battle Royale counterpart. This mode is for those who enjoy co-op gameplay and base building, but one should be mindful of the potential repetitiveness.

Can You Unlock V-Bucks by Playing Save the World?

Before Save the World transitioned out of early access, many players bought the Founder’s Pack to earn V-Bucks for Battle Royale. They could do so by daily login rewards, daily missions, and using the collection book. However, with changes in the game, things are different now.

For players who own the Founder’s Pack and are returning to the game, it’s important to note that unlocking V-Bucks through daily login and collection book completion is no longer possible. These features have been removed, and now Founders can only earn V-Bucks by completing daily missions. On the other hand, players who acquired the game after it left early access will not have access to V-Bucks, except for those included in the Vinderman 2.0 Pack.

Completing Save the World missions still rewards players with considerable Battle Royale XP, making it an excellent method to level up quickly in Fortnite and progress through the Battle Pass.

Whether Save the World is worth playing depends on individual preferences, gaming interests, and desired outcomes. Here’s what players can expect from Save the World in 2023:

  • Strategic base defense zombie game
  • Battle Royale XP
  • 1,500 V-Bucks
  • Daily missions V-Bucks (Founders only)
